You just don't get games like this on PC very often, and I really enjoyed it.NOTICE: Activation key must be used on a valid Steam account, requires internet connection.
A game like this is best enjoyed as local multiplayer, and split-screen is such a rarity on PC that it's more of a selling point to me than online would be. There is no online multiplayer, but I didn't miss it. It has native support for 360 controllers, just plug 4 of them in to your PC. The biggest selling point for me? It features 4-player split-screen (on PC!), which is a blast. I have a pretty low/mid system (HD5750) and got 60fps constant for the most part with AA and AF on through my video card's settings.
Despite what another reviewer said, performance was excellent. Much of what impresses visually is again the creativity of the levels, as opposed to the raw detail. Visually, it's nice-looking game, though the cartoony style means it isn't too flashy. After you beat the basic game, there are lots of challenge races you can use to get points and gain access to more cars/tracks.
In fact, I think it tops the Mario Kart series in that respect Mario Kart's tracks were never truly clever like this. There are lots of Sega characters, but the real stars of this game are the tracks, which are as crazy and dizzying as you'd expect for a Sonic game. There are lots of Sega characters, It's a Mario Kart clone, yes, but a very good one! The power-ups are good, and it *feels* like Mario Kart. It's a Mario Kart clone, yes, but a very good one! The power-ups are good, and it *feels* like Mario Kart. But winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position.
Each character will speed around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in Aiai’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in medieval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA.
